Course Objectives:

Participants will develop:

• To provide the student with an overall view of the historical milestones in the New Age (period after the French Revolution), with a threefold focus:
  • the colonial period and subsequent decolonization in Africa;
  • the rivalries and nationalisms of the major powers
  • the post WWII period with its quest for a new/different world order
